Top 5 Wedding Themes Ideas For 2021
“You can choose from a selection of styles that go against the grain, even bright colours that show off your own personality!”
Have you decided on a wedding theme? While you don’t need one to have the best day of your life, it can be easier to centre your style on one specific theme. Your wedding day is the celebration of your union, and it should be unique to you and your partner but if you’re struggling for ideas, we’ve got a few to run past you!
Rustic Wedding
Rustic weddings are great for any season, we think they’re best held around Summer and Autumn for the full experience. That way if you’re hosting it outdoors you don’t have to worry about the temperature being too low and uncomfortable for you and your guests. An outdoor venue is a great idea for this theme — research your local area for barns and farms that advertise as wedding venues to see what kind of deal you can get, and utilise everything around you for decor, bouquets, buttonholes and even wedding favours! Calligraphy on wooden pallets, lace boho dresses, tweed and seasonally coloured waistcoats — what’s not to love?

Vintage weddings can be so much fun to organise, and depending on your era of choice, easy to arrange! There are multiple classic car hires available for wedding transport, as well as dresses and suits available in second-hand vintage stores, but if you’re going for aesthetics over authenticity then that’s great too! Farms, Churches and even Museums are some great venue choices for your vintage wedding, and you can check out local dressmakers and tailors for some truly delightful vintage style products. Be creative with your stationery, make-up, even your hair, and feel free to experiment with different styles from different eras before settling on whichever is perfect for you and your partner. Christmas Wedding
A Christmas Wedding can look absolutely magical! Be wary, however — though wedding season is traditionally between May and September/October, venues may charge more than their standard off-peak prices, which is understandable of course for staff working over the Christmas period. Nevertheless, Christmas can be an excellent theme to go with. You can hire a professional decorator to perfect your Christmas wedding dreams or you can go the alternate route of saving Christmas decorations and using them instead to save your budget! You can also add other seasonal stylings to your big day, such as a red & gold colour palette, holly wreaths, mulled wine, faux fur boleros, poinsettias, Christmas cake, panettone, and so much more! Seasonal Wedding
Seasonal weddings can be a great idea for those keeping to a budget. There are so many great things about each season that can really make your wedding feel unique and personal whilst also utilising the flowers and decorations around you. Once you’ve got a date in mind, ask your vendors and suppliers what seasonal goods they can offer you for your big day, and get all the advice you can from professionals. There’s a good chance they know exactly what you want and will definitely help you achieve your wedding dreams! Keep in mind the different colour palettes of the seasons and have a go at incorporating them into your wedding day, such as pastels for spring or earthy colours for autumn. If you need more specific advice for each season, we’d be glad to help — check out our blogs on Autumn and Winter weddings, and keep an eye out for our Spring and Summer Weddings blogs!
Alternative Wedding
If you love dark colours and a little bit of goth, how about having an Alternative Wedding? You don’t necessarily have to wear a black dress with a bouquet of red roses, you can wear whatever you like — Alternative wedding themes simply take a different route from a traditional wedding with white dresses etc. You can choose from a selection of styles that go against the grain, even bright colours that show off your own personality! Whether it be punk, goth, steampunk or even your own personal style, the sky’s the limit with your choices. Check out our blog on Alternative Weddings to get more inspiration, or if you’d rather something a little more personal, check out our own Midnight Musings and her series of blogs detailing her journey in planning her alternative wedding:
