Autumn Wedding Theme — Spectacular Ideas For Your Grand Wedding!
“A bouquet of foxgloves, roses, dried ferns etc would be a grand choice.”
Weddings in Autumn can be a truly beautiful occasion — so many natural colours coming to light as the evenings get longer and the temperature cools to a comfortable breeze. It’s understandable to have trouble with picking from so many great ideas across the internet and people’s experience, but hopefully, our suggestions will get you on the right track and inspire you to create your own Autumn style!
What kind of venue are you thinking of when you think of an Autumn wedding? Outdoors is fine so long as you have jackets on hand for the milder weather, but have you considered other indoor venues? Manor house hotels for instance, or castle venues can give your wedding a grand vibe to it, especially if the venue in question has functioning fireplaces to warm your bones up. Places like Jesmond Dene House or Langley Castle in the northeast can add a wonderful cosy feel to your special day, and the architecture itself can add unique character to the ambience as well. Plus, if you still long for a little bit of outdoors, you can always have a photoshoot by the falling leaves on the grounds of the venue. Keeping your floral and decor choices seasonal is a great idea as well, and a bouquet of foxgloves, roses, dried ferns etc would be a grand choice. If you’re looking into keeping everything in the same colour palette, that’d be a great idea too (check out our blog on our top 3 autumn colour palettes for more ideas!) as it keeps things organised and maintains the theme you’re going for. Keeping to the rules you set for your theme will help you stay in line and avoid grabbing things that, while it/they look(s) beautiful, may end up looking out of place on the big day.
Whether you like Halloween or not (we love it!) you can always incorporate pumpkins into your wedding decor — there’s no need for jack ‘o lanterns! Pumpkins are great with any autumn theme, and they don’t have to be orange either. Pumpkins naturally come in different colours, but if you’re finding it difficult to find different coloured pumpkins in your local area, you can always check out high street store etc to find less expensive pumpkin ornaments, such as velvet pumpkins or cardboard pumpkin painting kits which you can put your own design on. Why not ask your venue or caterers if they can include seasonal veggies in the menu as well? They may be there already, but it doesn’t hurt to check. Autumn can be a great time to tuck into some comfort food, so check out any meals that give you a great sense of home and heart if you’re going for that kind of vibe.
If you are going for a Halloween or gothic theme to your wedding, we’d highly recommend you explore high street shops as well as suppliers to see what kind of deals you can get on decorations and DIYs before your wedding. Stocking up a couple of years before your wedding date can really help out your budget and help space out some of your purchases. Check out more on gothy wedding ideas here!
For your attire, we’d recommend looking into jackets or faux fur shawls for any outdoor activities such as photoshoots or even your ceremony. If you’re going to wear a dress, you can always double-check if your clothes or footwear will be suitable for the day — after all, heeled pumps can get stuck in mud quite easily and British weather is a little unpredictable at times! Have a look into other types of shoes as well, such as stylish boots perhaps, so that you’re prepared for whatever comes your way at the wedding. If you’re wearing suits, how about looking into some elegant velvet suit jackets to keep cosy, or some stylish woollen suits tailored to your size? Either way, we’d recommend keeping to your chosen colour palette and theme to avoid any clashing colours or styles!
Finally, how about adding some sweet treats to your reception? Toffee apples, warm cider, even some freshly popped popcorn with caramel and cinnamon drizzled across it! You can even add a non-alcoholic version of home-made mulled cider if you have kids attending your wedding so they can get in on some autumnal fun.
Would you go for any of these ideas? Maybe you’ve already had your spectacular Autumnal wedding? We’d love to hear from you either way! Check out our social media links below and any other blogs that might interest you — we’ve got a wide variety now!
See you next week.
