Important Wedding Details To Remember…
“When you go shopping for your dress, make sure to bring at least one of your bridesmaids or your maid/man of honour to your fitting,”
We’re back with another set of wedding details that you might forget about! We’ve been researching hard to find the content that will help you feel calmer about your big day, so sit back and relax — we’ve got some tips for you!
Track The Sunset
If you want those amazing sunset shots where the orange coloured sky envelopes the background, you’re going to have to time it right. Eyeballing it as the sun goes down might work, but there’s always the chance you’ll be indoors and miss it entirely in all the festivities. The Met Office and other weather prediction websites can give an accurate guess as to sunrise and sunset within a week or so in advance, so plan a slot in your timetable of events for those perfect romantic sunset shots with your partner.
Grab Extra Seats
Even if you’ve written out your guest list and sent out invites, there’s always the chance you’ll get more plus ones than you expected. There’s always a chance, even when you don’t offer a plus one on the invitation, that someone will bring a friend or partner you didn’t expect. Rather than turn them away, prepare extra seating at your wedding for these people, to avoid any conflict or trouble at your wedding. You could even use a tip we offered last time, and delegate a member of your wedding party to decide what to do in this situation on your behalf. You can always discuss the issue later, after celebrating your union.
Keep Spare Clothes For Wedding Day Prep
With all the excitement of the big day, it’s perfectly understandable to get up, get your dress on and start the preparations. This can have consequences however; you want your dress to be perfect when you walk down the aisle, getting your hair and make-up done could cause little accidents! There’s every chance that make-up can dust on your dress or hair products such as straighteners can damage it, so while it is amazing to see it all come together, remember to pack your dress before you get your hair and makeup done and avoid any unnecessary hassle.
Spare Shoes On The Day
We advised last time that you should walk in your shoes before your wedding day to wear them in, but if you don’t have time for this or simply don’t intend to wear them constantly, pack a spare pair of shoes for your comfort. Maybe your shoes are perfect for your ceremony, but you can’t dance in them — no worries! You should have a changing room for bags, or if your ceremony is at a hotel, then use your room for storage. Just make sure they’re out and available; you don’t want to go digging around your room for shoes when you could be dancing! In an emergency, you should be able to rely on your wedding party to help you store spare shoes at the venue. Just change into your comfy shoes and become the dancing queen/king of the dancefloor!
Leaving Time And Budget For Attire Alterations
When you plan your wedding far in advance, you’re likely to have a timetable or timeline of events. Along that timeline you’ll go to dress fittings, and eventually buy your dream wedding dress, but this may be a month or so in advance of the wedding day. You should leave time and budget aside in your plans in case of minor emergencies, so that you can have your dress altered in time for the big day. It’s a win-win either way; if when you try your dress a week before the wedding everything is fine, then you’ve got some free time and money to spend relaxing with your partner!
Verify Time And Date With Your Vendors
It seems obvious when it’s pointed out, but with everything that goes on throughout wedding planning, there’s the chance you can forget to verify your bookings. It’s a good idea to call up or contact your vendors a week or two before the date to double check that everything is prepared in time for the main event. This way you’ll be able to handle any last minute changes if they occur, and be able to deal with them easily before the big day itself. In the event something has come up with the vendor, or the vendor had the time and date wrong, this can easily be corrected in time before the wedding, leaving you time to focus on other planning matters.
Teach Your Bridesmaids About Your Dress
Even if your dress is easily zipped up at the back, your bridesmaids are going to be the ones who help you go to the loo whenever you need it so it makes sense for them to know how to help you pack up the skirt! Not only that, but on the day of your wedding, you want to make sure everything is going to go according to plan — if a zipper breaks on you, you’re going to want your amazing wedding party on hand to know how to fix it! When you go shopping for your dress, make sure to bring at least one of your bridesmaids or your maid/man of honour to your fitting, so they can learn all they can about your dress and how to get into/out of it.
Overnight Bag
There’s a lot to remember during a wedding and the days coming up to it. The dress, the food, the music, the decor…and then you remember at the last minute that you have an overnight stay after the reception! There are a lot of packages out there by hotel venues that offer rooms for the married couple, so you’ll need something to get changed into the next day. Pack an overnight bag well in advance of the big day, and make sure someone is there to take the bag up to your room if you’re too busy. It may also help to set reminders on your phone/calendar, or on your UPlanIt checklist.
Plan For The Two Of You
With all that goes on throughout the wedding day, it can be difficult to find the time just for the two of you. Your wedding day is a celebration of the union between you and your partner, so you should find the time if you can to relax together, take a breather from the festivities. If you have a timetable of events, then you can always slot in however long you want, perhaps in between the ceremony and wedding dinner, or during the reception. Remember that while your guests are important, it’s more essential to enjoy yourself at your wedding.
Guestbook
It’s really wonderful to have a photo album of your big day to look back on your memories, but have you got anything to remember your guests? Why not have a guestbook for your guests to leave a note, telling you how much they enjoyed your wedding? You could even go a step further, adding novelty parts like jenga blocks or wooden hearts to write on and collect. This can be a great reminder of your loved ones at your wedding, and bring a more tactile memory back of the day you got married to your partner.
