Brothers are the best! Who else can you admit that you love so much while they are so infuriating? Here at Uplanit, we love celebrations and events and of course big fans of family!

Brothers are a special part of the family. So much that one man, C. Daniel Rhodes, came up with an event to celebrate them. This happened on May 24th, and this day has since been marked as National Brother’s Day. Here’s all you need to know about this day and how to celebrate it.

History of National Brother’s Day

Some of the best bands the world has ever seen have been made of brothers. Are you thinking of the Jackson Five? Because we are! There was also the Bee Jees. The music industry is also not the only place where we’ve seen brothers excel. How about the Wright brothers or even the Grimm brothers from the world of fiction novels?

Brotherhood also extends beyond just siblings. Have you ever seen the bond between the best man and the groom at a wedding? While some best men are biologically related, they don’t need to be for you to see a beautiful bond. A brother bond can form from life and its experiences.

So, it’s not surprising that Daniel Rhodes from Alabama decided to celebrate this bond on a separate day. What is surprising is that it took that long. Before then, people just celebrated their brothers on National Sibling Day.

Why National Brother’s Day Is Celebrated

The answer is simple; there is no one like a brother. Your brother is the one person with whom you can make silly mistakes that keep you laughing about years later. He is like an added layer of protection that you know is always on your side.

Brothers are the ones who understand even when you don’t say a word. They’ll do their best to keep you from harm and bad decisions. Even when you move miles away and aren’t together for a while, you know they will always be there for you. So why shouldn’t we all celebrate that?

How to Make Your Brother Feel Special This National Brother’s Day

May 24th is almost here, and it got us thinking. How can we all make the men important to us feel special this wonderful day? Well, you know your brother best, so what would he enjoy? Thinking along those lines is a great place to start. Below are some other lovely ideas on how you and your brother could enjoy National Brother’s day.

Do Something Nostalgic

If you’ve been with your brother since childhood, this day is a great time to do something nostalgic. It could be just the two of you or in a group of brothers, if that is what applies. Think back to when you were kids; what activity did you enjoy doing together?

It could be a street football game or a basketball game. You could also go to the cinema together or ride bikes down the street. Speaking of cinemas, movie night is a great idea too. You could slot in an old favorite and take a blissful trip down memory lane.

Send Them A Message Showing How You Feel

While brothers may not be too expressive sometimes, a text message telling them how you feel can go a long way. Your brother has been with you through difficult times; let him know how much you appreciate and value that.

So, get out your phone and type out something sweet. Don’t forget to include a few inside jokes specific to your relationship. We can assure you it’s a gesture he’ll appreciate and talk about for many years after.

Celebrate on Social Media

Are you and your brother on social media? Then let the world know how much you appreciate them. Put up pictures of them, photos of you both, or ones in a group. If you have some embarrassing images from your childhood, put them up too. The hashtag many use is #Brothers Day.

Plan A Hangout

If you’re a group of brothers, a hangout could be the best thing to do. You could go for a game of laser tag, although this May 24 is a Tuesday, so you might have to schedule for the weekend instead. Bonding with your brothers is a great way to celebrate National Brother’s Day. Especially if you haven’t seen each other in a while.

In Conclusion

National Brother’s Day is a great time to celebrate the bond between brothers. A time to show that you appreciate their love and care. You can schedule the above activities to make your brother feel special or come up with others. Can you think of any? We’d love to know so feel free to share.
