Have You Heard Of Pain Points? — Tips For New Businesses.

If you’re starting a new business for yourself, or maybe even just freelancing, there’s always the problem of getting your name out there. What makes you different from all those other brands out there? Should you make a big online statement? Sink your funds into online ads? Well before you get your wallet out, have a gander at us at UPlanIt.

So we think there’s three categories of supplier — time based, rental based, and product based. If you’re a florist for example, you’d be product based, and if you were photographer, you’d be time based. Either way, you want to sell your product/time to potential clients, but you’re lacking a place to do it. Social media seems fine enough but with unpredictable algorithms it can be tricky for people to find your business, and some sites often require you to have an account to connect to your (Looking at you, Facebook!).

These are what we’d call Pain Points — named because they’re painful and you want to solve them as quick as possible! Obviously, pain points can come under other things, such as affordability for your customers and clients, working out payment plans, setting up portfolios and the like. These pain points take away the precious time you have to spend on creating the best service and experience you can give to your clients, especially when you’re a new business and there’s no guarantee for business. You want to focus all you can on your product, and we can help you with that.

Now whichever category you come under, you’re all gonna need the same thing; a place to call your own. By which I mean a mini-storefront that clients and event planners can easily find and evaluate on their own terms. Having a social media presence is great but it can only go so far. What you want is a place where people who are looking for a specific service for a specific event can find you, see your availability, and contact you without any hassle.

This is where we come in. We provide a great platform for your business, whether it’s small or large, everyone can find a place here. You start off setting up your page with a big banner and logo — we recommend something that fits with your aesthetic if you haven’t already designed one, or even just taking a dynamic photograph of your product! Write up your contact details (the most important part!) and really sell yourself in the About Us page. Do you make radiating rose arrangements? Perhaps you sell wondrous wedding cakes? Give people a bit of history to your business, show your human side and bond with your future client. We all know event/wedding planning can be a stressful time and we only want the best for our suppliers and clients, to allow for a peaceful and more gentle planning than how it used to be. Remember to add the members of your team, even if it’s just you on your own!

To ease up on people calling to ask your availability, we created a calendar than potential clients will see where your openings are for more orders or bookings. Simply add your available dates and that’s one less thing to worry about! We also have analytics for your business page, so you can see how many people are visiting your page and what pages they’re frequenting the most.

When you’re done showing off how amazing you are, remember to add a portfolio of images and examples of your work. It always helps for a client to see what kind of quality you provide and what kind of aesthetic you stick to in your business, whether it be traditional or against the grain or just plain quirky. This also comes in handy for the services page, which is your little storefront. You can easily add services and products like a floral arch or bouquet, list the price, add some relevant details like how long the service is for (If you’re a DJ for example or renting a photobooth) and whether it will be available in store or out of store. You can also add payment plans for some of your pricier services, if you’re a car hire for example. These are easy to set up, and come with an example payment plan if you’re not sure on what you’re doing. We understand a lot of people can be new to this and we want to make it as smooth as possible for you to set up your business www.uplanit.co.uk

Finally, the cost — it’s what you’re all thinking now isn’t it? ‘How much will it be to use this service?’ The answer is…nothing! It’s free to use our platform for your business and you’ll have unlimited service/product/rental listings. We earn by taking a small commission from your bookings, only 5% + £0.2, and your first 60 days are commission free!

We hope to see you signing up soon and can’t wait to hear from you!

See you next week.
