Halloween, a day where we dress up as spooky characters with children arriving at neighbourhood houses and saying ‘trick or treat’ before receiving a selection of sweets. The meaning behind Halloween originated from the Celtic festival of Samhain. It has been said that November 1st marked the end of summer and the beginning of the dark, chilly weather and also associated with human death. It was said that the night before the new year (November 1st) is when they believed death and ghosts return to earth. To celebrate, the Celts wore costumes such as animal heads and skins and attempted to tell one another’s fortunes.
